Just a quick note for you novices working with quark/PDFs.

If, like me, you find yourself in the unenviable position of making changes to your blue line proofs, your offset printer will ask you to send new PDF pages of those you’ve corrected. This recently happened to me and when I sat down to make the new PDF pages, I realized I was lost. I could make the corrections to my quark document, of course, and make a new PDF of the entire book. I could print out the individual pages, which were now in Adobe Acrobat, but I could not transfer a single PDF page from my book and put it on a disc to send to Vaughan printing. I called my local print shop, Flash Printing here in my home of Gulfport, Mississippi and as it turned out, the process proved pretty elementary: Bring up your document in quark. Hit the “file” menu, then “export,” then “layout as a PDF.” When the print screen comes up, put the number of the page you are trying to convert to pdf in the “page number” box. Then give this one-page PDF its own name: The system will default to the name of your document—in my case, my book. I changed my one-page to the title of the book, then “page whatever it was.” [Make sure you make that name change, because you don’t want to replace your entire document with just one page. You’ll get the do you want to replace this document with this document prompt, so it will be kind of hard to miss the potential screw up]. Once you’ve named your single page PDF, hit print. Wa-la! You’ve got a single page PDF excerpted from your document. That's the page you move to the disc for forwarding to your offset printer. The printer will switch out the PDFs.
